New cars are offered for sale with a certain period of warranty. This is the time when all the parts of the automobile are covered and if they break down you will not have to pay for repairs or spare parts. A typical warranty period lasts about three years or expires after you have covered a certain number of miles. Then your vehicle effectively becomes like regular used cars but you do have the option to extend your warranty with the manufacturer. This is in effect similar to insurance because if your car breaks down after the original warranty expires the car company from which you bought the car will cover the cost of fixing it. This is relatively useful because if you decide to buy an extended three year warranty your car can be covered throughout the entire time you own it - because most motorists who buy new automobiles get rid of them after about six or seven years. Someone who will buy used cars from you will then have to deal with any problems caused by faulty breaks or other parts that tend to wear out relatively quickly. But the cost of warranty for used cars is what car dealers take into account when pricing the used car in question. So if you buy for example used cars from Audi or BMW that is out its original warranty, you should not be disappointed because you just paid much less for it.
